After a fruitless search for junk rigged boat I have decided to convert my Pandora international bilge keel to junk rig this winter. Will this be a suitable hull for this rig? I will be cruising with the boat and am interested in the cambered fan sail for upwind performance. Which is the best source of literature for mast size/position and sail size etc?

All the best,

And people still insist that if you convert your boat to junk rig, you will never be able to sell her!
If you are really interested in doing this yourself, you need to get hold of a copy of Practical Junk Rig. This will give you a very good starting point and comprehension of the whole concept of junk rig. If you want to go for a cambered, fan sail, all I can say is that you will have to search the technical fora and go here to find out more information. I seem to remember that David Tyler posted a 'formula' for a fantail sail somewhere, but I'm sorry to say, I couldn't find it just now when I trawled through the website.
Best of luck with the project.
