    Hello all!

First off … as some of you may know …it is VERY difficult to see any junk rig boats in the U.S. …so , thank you all for this wonderful info!

I am very excited to be (in the baby stages) starting real plans for the conversion of my Storfidra 25 to a single masted junk.

I have been getting price quotes from a local metal fabricator on the mast step , partners and masthead fittings……

But …I have seen  other boats , large  than mine that have just used a wood / plywood / epoxy / sheathed in fiberglass for the step and partners.

My question is….does that seem strong enough??? It is most certainly more affordable

The boat weighs roughly 6800 lbs. and the mast is a 28 ft. 1/4" think tapered Aluminum flagpole weighing approximately 125 lbs. sail area 350-400 square ft.

Any advice / ideas is GREATLY appreciated!

    thanks

    Jonny
