Thank you Asmat and Jan for your inputs!

Jen it works! I could attached the stl file of the mast wedges disguised as a pdf file.

Asmat, I was also thinking about a hard rubber similar material but I would like to print it instead of pouring it. Unfortunately I don't have any experience in printing a the friend of mine has no experience about printing boats parts...that's way I was asking about an appropriate filament...

    Thank you again

I'd prefer to make the "wedges" out of stiff rubber, using pourable polyurethane. It should create a waterproof seal,  eliminating the need for a mast coat.

    Hi Mauro!
If you want to upload scripts, you could try "tricking" Wild Apricot (our JRA server) by changing the file extension (e.g., ".stl"?) to ".pdf".
Of course, it’s a good idea to clearly note that the extension needs to be changed back to the correct one after downloading.
For example, you could name this  file "rename-me-to-stl.pdf".

    Cheers! – Jan

EDIT: to download it one should right-click on the file, and then choose "Save as", then after saving - rename extension of saved file to .stl

    Hi all,

last week end, I asked a friend of mine to help me with designing mast wedges for my boat. He is no engineer but can use AI, Blander and has a good 3D printer.

He suggested to ask AI (astra 6 version of chat GPT). We started with the three measurements of the partners I made last winter (outer and intern diameter and distance between them). Astra 6 was very polite and started to create his own programs to make a first sketch. We improved progressively the object together and finally asked the IA to use blender in order to create a 3D model in a printable format.

It took only 15 min to get the final files...

The attached sketch shows the dimension of the wedges with lower ends running together in an acute angle. The final modifications were made by AI direct on Blander. The final object ist 180mm long and divided in two halves. I cannot attache these files so I made a screenshot.

The groove along the upper edge should host a clamp hose to secure the two halves on the mast.

Which filament would be appropriate for printing the wedges?

Any comment about the design would be very appreciate!

    Cheers

    Mauro

P.S.: I was very impressed by the AI as she is able to create her own programs in order to solve problems, increase her knowledge or improve herself. Nevertheless I would define her as incredibly capable more than intelligent. I think that intelligence has to do not only with capability but also with ethic and social attitudes. If I understand correctly AI experts call this "alignment" and the discrepancy between capability and social/ethic attitudes of the actual AI model (lack of alignment), makes them dangerous.
