Distance between two sails for optimum performance

So I would suggest, both for aerodynamic consideration and sheeting consideration to keep the gap between the two mast as wide as possible.

    Bonjour

Am afraid, there are no, yet, in depth, performance knowledge on junk rig as on bermudian rig because the junkrigs are not allowed in the racing rules. So the race monney didn't arrive !

On bermudien rigs shonners or ketchs are considered less performant than sloop and all the racing boat are nowdays sloops (up to 100' long).

It seems that the forward sail would more perturbate the rear one rather than act as a booster.

So I would suggest, both for aerodynamic consideration and sheeting consideration to keep the gap between the two mast as wide as possible.

Initial sail plan with 78 cm distance. Gained to 170 cm by moving both masts (60 cm main back and 40 cm fore forward)

Dear all, again, could not find it through search.

My question is: how to asset best distance between two sails for schooner JR (or I suppose same for ketch JR).

On one hand it's a matter of sheeting space not to engage in double side sheeting. On the other - it is ability of one sail to improve airflow for another, if I'm not mistaken.

In my case with help of Arne the sailplan was designed with 2.1 ratio fore sail and 2.0 main. But I managed to move masts father from each other, maintaning decent CE-CLR balance, and now have 170 cm space between sails instead of 78 cm.

That surely allows single sheeting for fore sail. But should I  improve it's ratio down to 2.0 or 1.9 maintaining same height to gain some more sail area and possibly better airflow? Lowering the distance between sails to some 100 or 120 cm?
