    Alex.
This write-up about new lazyjacks on my boat, illustrates the braced yard well. Maybe it's an idea to copy that one, using a 60-70mm tube for the main tube. Make sure that the welds between the main tube and the bracing is nice and long.
    Just a thought...

We just had a great sail from Hawaii to Alaska on our 45’ Lug Schooner. 18 days with an average speed of 6.1 kns. Near the end of the passage I noticed we had cracked the forward yard. I made a splint for a temporary repair. I am in Sitka (large fishing port). There are lots of aluminum welders here and I was thinking of replacing the yard with aluminum instead of spruce. I can zoom in on some pictures with them but does anyone have plans of photos of aluminum yards that I could take to a welder? My head sail is 450 sq ft (41 m2).
