Custom tapered steel poles are the best and most economic mast for a boat of this size. I've done quite a few to-date. The diameter will depend on the sail area to be carried, the LAP, the stiffness of the boat and the material and thickness that is chosen to build the mast out of. It's not something you suck out of your thumb.
