I really appreciate the help and advice.    Being cold and icy out there today, I tend to go to the computer and read stuff.

The internet has been a real boon.   Back before the internet it was extremely difficult and time consuming to find information about much of anything......

Interestingly the link Kevin provided worked like a charm.   The other procedure absolutely doesn't work for me.... on either of my computers.  The download hits the wall and I get a failed to download message.  It's difficult to imagine that with high speed DSL and two separate computers, one running Linux SUSE, and the other Windows 10, that it should work for someone else, but not for me.... having used 3 different browsers???

Below are the two screens I got.... the download one ran all afternoon and did nothing.... it was still the same message when I came home.

    Hi HW,

This has worked for me, using Opera Browser on a Windows 10 laptop.  I tested it 3 times to be sure, after first having thought I had it but didn't.

Logged into the member's site.  then selected JRA magazine index.

When this opened, I found newsletter 56 and right-clicked on the title.

This brought up a dialog box "open in new tab".  Left clicked on that and it opened a new tab on my browser in which the entire Newsletter 56 opened.

That took a while though, (probably due to my using my mobile phone as the wifi hotspot, so slow enough).

While the newsletter was downloading into the new tab, the image was sort of faded and only when the file was fully downloaded, did the image sharpen up to more photographic/magazine quality.

At that point, I clicked the download button in the top right corner and the magazine downloaded into my downloads file.  Again this took a while. (Prob due to my wifi speed)

I also noticed that the download button will not function until the newsletter is fully loaded onto the browser tab.  (The sharp clear image rather than the washed-out one).

Found the newsletter in my downloads file, opened it and when it had fully opened, saved it into my JRA magazine file on the computer.

It might be that slow download is fooling you into thinking that nothing is happening. It took a little while for the message showing speed and extent of download to display on my screen, so that may possibly putting you astray.

Maybe this method will work on your own browser without having to download Opera.

    Cheers.  Not fish nor fowl

I'm reading Phillip Corridan's book Journal of The Alleda at the moment and was trying to download issue 56 to read about the junk rig conversion of Alleda.  One of the most interesting and just about the only conversion I know of a factory built catamaran to junk rig.  I'm having zero success with either Firefox of Chrome.  The files are stored on box.com.   I can't open the file as a PDF on screen, nor can I download it, though the site claims that it is being downloaded.   I also just tried doing on Windows 10 using the edge browser........ same result.    I virtually never use Win for security reasons..... it gets used for one mission critical application only.

Box is an absolutely miserable website.....I opened an account hoping it would then allow me to download...... to no avail.  Logging onto their site after opening an account, and it gives me nothing but garbage, and doesn't respond to any of my clicks.

Frustrating in the extreme!   It looks like under this system, I can't access any previous newsletters........

................ Any sugggestions?    Anybody have better success?  How?
