Hi all....finally finished making the foresail and battens made for Sea Elf, and they are now on the boat. I thought I was going to have problems with my four part halyard imposing too much friction for it to drop but saw the problem and it comes down much better....not fast but much better. Still working out the sheeting arrangement and downhauls. I learned that hauling in on the sheet helps haul the sail down when reefing. I never had to do this on my pram so I'm happy to find this out. The downhaul helps too. The sails are based on Van Loans and I'm making these out of polytarp, duct-tape and stitched with a sewing machine. It was exciting watching her pull against the spring-lines and then releasing the sheet and having the sail weathercock and "stop". I've posted a few pictures on the photo gallery.
All the best....and looking forward to finally sailing Sea Elf again!!
