    And an additional advantage is that this particular Fjord Flyer was rigged by amateurs at a fraction of the coast of other racing machines.  Good for Ketil - I really look forward to hearing about how you eat your way through the fleet.  I wonder how many people will believe their eyes rather than putting it down to some sort of 'fluke performance', 'conditions just happened to be right for her', 'the other boats didn't get as good a breeze', etc.

    A good rig on a good hull at last! This is what the junk rig movement needs to be recognised. Well done Ketil, and thanks for the photos Arne.

    Hi,

    And thank you. I am very impressed with the way she handles and goes, and I am really looking forward to see how she goes compared to the pointy bragade. It is like being a small boy having got his favourite toy for cristmas.

    Thanks for the photos Arne. Yes, Marie G is one impressive boat. I'm looking forward to hear how she does in the coming race (Friday I believe) and also how she will show against the others in her class.

                                   Photo session with Marie G

    Hi all

    Today I invited myself for a photo session to see how Ketils Marie G looked from the cockpit of Johanna. If you look here and then just step forward (7 photos), you will understand what a sailing machine she is. I reckon she was about two full kts faster than Johanna and also pointed some 3-5° closer to the wind. It was also most impressing to see how MG accelerated out of each tack. As can be seen, her long, flat overhang creates a very long waterline, about 2.5m longer than on Johanna.

    Well, I guess I am envious and proud at the same time. Those of you who have sailed Johanna and thought she went well, will understand this. I remember, after the Stavanger rally in 2004, the Stavanger boats - Malena, Johanna and Samson - were classified as "fjord flyers". Forget that: There is only one fjord flyer here, and that is Marie G!
