Having sold my Corramandel it is time to start thinking about the next project.
It has to be a multihull, junk rigged of course.
There is not a lot on the market that suits me, though that does bounce between a cruiser to take friends or a small single hander.
I had just about given up looking and fired up by David Omick’s wee cat, I was getting serious about my dream build project, a small simple proa, very much on the lines of Minimus 2. I have been in contact with David who was very helpful.
But then an Iroquois has come up at an attractive price, so may end up jumping in that direction.
She will need a junk rig, with I think a biplane layout. They weigh around 3t, and the present sail area is 32sqm. So I would give it a little bit more, say 18sqm per mast.
For the mast probably a hybrid, using, say, a 102x3.2mm 6082 alloy for the main section, timber top, and some beefing up on the lower part. Perhaps that is too light? But hey, I have a spare!
I was trying to locate the mast excel sheet on the website without luck, can anyone point it out.
For the sail, perhaps a much desired David Tyler wing is too ambitious, so something a bit simpler for now.
Any comments?
Thanks, Mark
