Because of the time difference, I am afraid I only heard the news a little while ago and regret that I wasn't the one to initiate this thread. I have known Robin for nearly 40 years and the news of his death has deeply saddened me.
Robin had been ill for a while - thankfully not that long - and Mandy wanted to keep their privacy intact, which is why there has been no mention of it.
I think it's fair to say that Robin was much loved by all who knew him. Convivial, kind and helpful, he gave a huge amount to this community, tireless in his support of his customers, all of whom became friends, and ever ready to promote the rig that so fascinated him.
Robin and Mandy were a wonderful team: in the days before computers were commonplace, I hate to think how many hours she must have put in at typewriter and photocopier on behalf of both Sunbird and the JRA. I think that rather than inundate Mandy with emails, perhaps we could use this thread to remember Robin and to commiserate with the family. His passing has left us all the poorer and our little Association will not be the same without him.
May he forever sail the celestial waters, in a junk of great splendour, with the wind set fair.
