Mast is up again. I'm a bit disappointed with the amount of flex in the mast. It's outside diameter is 80mm with a 3mm wall.

Anyway I will lower it again so I can rig the halyard, and then I can start rigging the sail.

I've bought 3 X 6.5m X 3mm lengths of alloy tube yesterday for battens. I'm a little concerned at the weight of them, but I'll see how I go. I'll have the boat out of the shed tomorrow, and I shall see what happens.

Usually when I say such and such is going to happen, well..it doesn't.

Anyway I am picking up the alloy tubes for the battens on Wednesday, so I reckon I could be rigging the sail on Thursday.

Well, I was right, it didn't happen. :)

I tried just standing the mast up on the ground and found it wasn't too difficult. So I've shortened the support tube by 300mm.

Raised the mast for the first time, with a degree of difficulty. I think I'm going to have rethink the mounting system.

With an hour or so with the flapper disc, block sander, and a couple of different grades of abrasive I decided it was as good as it was going to get. So I decided to see how it would look with the mast stowed. I had expected to only get the sanding done but I decided to go for broke and one coat of varnish is on.

Working on the mast. I have the 500mm timber extension glued into the masthead, and the first coat of primer on it. I'm going to use eyebolts as the sling points for the Halyard, YHP, Topping lifts and mast sling.

Are you moving aboard, then?  ;-)

Having thought about this, I think that the correct answer is...only if I really upset Kerry.  :)
