I met Julian in Cairns, Australia, during his circumnavigation, and later read his book, Voyage of the Harrier.  We shared a few bottles of red wine and demolished several steak dinners at the Cairns Cruising Yacht Squadron, while he regaled me with stories of his travels.  He was the quintessential English gentleman, who insisted he did not have adventures, claiming he just tootled along under self-tacking staysail and windvane, while he sat in the cabin reading books. Harrier II was sloop rigged, with the self-tacking staysail on an inner forestay, but he said the boat was not a cutter because he never flew both headsails at the same time.  The original Harrier was a junk-rigged Folkboat styled somewhat after Jester but with a more voluminous cabin.  Sadly, Harrier was wrecked on the South American coast enroute to Patagonia.
