Back to work, after a complicated winter that did'nt allow to work on the boat.

I have prepared upolstery for the battens and I am currently preparing the trimtab windvane following Alan's Mark III plans.

As soon as the temperatures rise I will be back on bord of LUVLEE.

    Finally, the sleeve is in.

The rivet nuts M12 (3 x 3) will hopefully keep the mast in position before I use additional wedges once I fixed it with 9 M12 screws. The pressure will not be on the mast but I did cut lengthwise a tube 1000x 160x 5 in three pieces, that will be inserted into the sleeve.

For holiday reasons I had to.pause for four weeks (enjoying an invitation on a 60ft Sunreef katamaran) in Greece which with all her all inclusive luxury couldn't convince me to convert to this kind of sailing.

Korinth Canal is impressing though (also pricewise).

Hi. You have come up with a clever solution there.  I made s stainless steel fitting and riveted it on.  It goes about. 2/3's aroundv the yard.  The rivet holes are small enough not to weaken it significantly

Today first hoisting try, but 2 rolls on top and one at the bottom of the halyard exceeded my strength, I just could hoist two panels. So I have to swap to a three pulley halyard and try again.  Maybe later on board with a winch I can return to a two pulley device.

Thomas, very nice! I like that you followed the advice to divide the forward batten pockets into several smaller ones. That will help with a good camber shape!

    Cheers

Today first spread out of the sail with tubes, gaff and boom.

In the background the flagpole, that will serve as auxiliary mast for the first hoisting trial.

Thomas, good to see your progress!

You can simply lash the halyard slingpoint to the gaff using i.e. a constrictor knot or a prusik knot.

    Cheers,

    Paul

Thank you Paul, but due to the piping I can't get around the gaff, but I will find a solution though.

After days of sewing I am almost finished. I do have some questions:

Is rattling of the pipes and aluminum gaff towards the mast an issue, I saw, that Alan Mullholland had some upholstery sewn to his sail, as he was disturbed by the noise?

As gaff I intend using the mast of a tiny sailboat, I have sewed piping (?) to the upper panel. Is there any experience with that? How do I find out the point, where to fix the halyard, Paul told me a rough 55% of the gaff length would be quite convenient. I do not have the final idea, how to fix the halyard to the gaff.
