I'm pretty new to the junk rig, I just run one on a 10 foot dinghy.

 I had a bit of trouble finding good info on the junk rig at first and I just wanted to say that if you're really interested in understanding the junk rig and how it works you can probably scrounge most of what you need to know off the net if you're good with google.

 but if you want a well referenced textbook of about 85% of the information you need The Practical Junk Rig is a good investment in spite of the hefty price tag.

Hello all.  I have an opportunity to purchase a V20 for a junk Rig conversion.  I had noticed on this site another person in the BC Canada area who converted a v20 to junk.  He set his up with a Mizzen, Im assuming to balance.  It appears that he left the original mast location in place but I cant tell.   If I did a junk conversion, Id think Id prefer a single sail on such a small boat.  I envision doing something to the boat like Roger Taylor has done on his boat with a small house and sealing up the boat a bit.  

It seems to me I have seen a number of pictures with junk rigs converted boats that appear to have the rigs placed way farther forward than I would have expected.   Is there a reason for this or do some people place their rigs for forward for a reason.  I would expect that the rig should balance just like a JR, right above the keel.

I guess my questions are:  Does anyone have any comments on the V20 as a conversion project?  

Can someone point me to the best reading material on determining the best location for a single sail JR to correctly balance the boat?
