    No direct experience with a track, but I'd expect chafe to be a problem, in the longer term.

    My experience with going aloft using ascenders is that a loose loop of line around the mast is necessary, to prevent swinging away from it. Would a link to a track car be better? I don't think so, as I've always needed to rotate around the mast to clear lifts and to get to different parts of the mast cap.

    Just got a offer for the Harken battcar sailtrack system still attached to the Freedom 45 mast. 

    This got me thinking. Might it be an idea to keep the sailtrack, turn the mast 90 degrees, so that the track is in the “shadow” and use it for going aloft..? Or will the sailtrack interfere to much with the batten parrels when hoisting/dousing the sail? 

    Anyone got experience with this?
