I got all excited when I saw an ad on Craigslist for this junk rigged beauty, especially as it was listed at $1,900! I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with the boat! Turns out the price has another zero in it. My heart broke a little but I told the owner I’d post it here for him. Such a sweet boat! Located in Vineyard Haven, MA $19,000

That was fun to see, Janine – no wonder you got excited about that boat, especially when the ad said $1900! I especially like the video, and the harbor entrance through those breakwaters. I've sailed in through there! Waquoit, if I'm not mistaken, on the south shore of Cape Cod.

    Thanks for the treat :-)

    Fascinating boat

In the video he says the rig was designed by the Junk Rig Association.  Anybody remember that?

Dennis, that is a "Sunbird" rig, designed by Alan Boswell. It dates from the time when Robin Blain was operating commercially as "Sunbird Marine Services" with design input from Alan (who is still active in this field), and also running the JRA almost singlehanded. There was, to say the least, a lot of symbiosis between the two at that time, which continued up until the JRA was re-organised and re-constituted in 2010.

    Thank you David,

The boat is not too far from me and I may look at her in the Spring when I have (hopefully) sold my Victoria Frances 26.  Does anyone in the group have any more information on the boat or the rig?

    Regards,

    Dennis

By way of an update.  The link in the initial post no longer works but the same boat can be found here .  The price in this advert is considerably lower than previously stated.
