Discovered on a recent visit to Lisbon and offered for sale here is a hardback copy of Navios Da China/Ships of China by Valentin Sokoloff.

Issued in Macau, it's a gem of a book and a rare reference source for the junk-rig sailor.

Currently listed on Amazon at over £450, I've listed my copy on ebay, starting at £99.  Any questions, please ring 07510978685.

at £90 or make an offer, + £4.50 delivery.

I made an offer of thirty quid, but he wasn't having it.  One of the things I dislike about E-Bay is that you can only make so many offers.  On Trade Me, our Kiwi (and, frankly, better) equivalent, you can make as many offers as you want until you reach the seller's reserve.  It's then up to them to accept or not.

For those, like me, grieving that they cannot possibly ever afford this book, I should point out the we have a full-colour pdf version available in our library. Scroll down the Box window to find it "Ships of China".  The illustrations are just gorgeous.

Ideally, you would be able to turn your screen to portrait to appreciate it.  I should love to print it out and bind it, but even that would be stretching the budget at present. One day ...

We had a copy in the JRA Library.

That is how we managed to digitise it.

Unfortunately the copy has not been seen recently.

Some JRA member must know where it is!

Keep looking.  The illustrations are BRILLIANT.

    Cheers, Edward
