    Hi everybody,

I can't understand how Ron has not yet got any answer for his beautidul "LIZ".

The boat responds to all of my highest requirements: 2 masts, outside and inside steering wheels, toilet and shower...

The price is right, considering the apparent state of the boat, and all it has to offer (including autopilot, chart plotter, Avon rib with 3.5hp Tohatsu outboard engine...).

I have asked the original designer of this boat, if it was suitable for ocean sailing. The reply was, yes, this boat was indeed designed for ocean crossing.

I have LIZ as a wallpaper on my computers at home and at work, that means, altogether 5 screens showing LIZ shearing water (http://www.junkrigassociation.org/noticeboard_forum/6379895?tpg=3 ).

Now you might ask: Why don't I run for it?

Well, it has been my dream... And still is. But my plans for the next 2 or 3 years have not got room for acquiring this boat, keeping it somewhere until I have time to sail it...

    What a shame.

So I ask you all: Why am I the only one to find an interest in this beauty?

How comes, every time I check this advert, hoping someone has fell for it so I can peacefully stop tearing my mind about it, I get disappointed to see nobody has paid it any attention?

I hope this message will stir up somebody attention, and help Ron to sell his boat. I can't fulfill my dream, but it will please me to know somebody else did.

    I do love this boat!

I don't know, Patrick.  It's been something that's been puzzling me, too!

Logistics are the problem for me Patrick and Annie.

There are about 1/2 a dozen interesting junk rigged vessels within or at my budget around the world but none are in South Africa. :-(

That makes buying any of them a bigger deal for me than if they were here. The time required and zero trans ocean sailing experience on my part make bringing them home a daunting prospect.

Ron Glas was sailing towards me but her owners have cold feet now about selling.

LIZ is indeed an intriguing vessel and I was in direct contact with Ron a while back and now have many images of her on file as well as a story of her build which I found at this link http://www.selway-fisher.com/Yachtsover35.htm

It seems she is a 36' Loosemoose Sharpie.

She rotates with the others as my desktop for now.

    Which translates as:

Hello everyone, Ron must be too busy to tell you, but I bought Liz from him a few weeks ago. She will spend the winter at her pontoon which she will leave in the spring for a cruise in the Mediterranean. Good luck to all.

Good to hear that she has found a new home!

Bon, dommage pour nous... Faut nous résoudre à enlever LIZ de nos fonds d'écrans!

(Well, too bad for us... We now have to remove LIZ from our computers screen savers!)

Bernard, quel sera le nouveau port d'attache de LIZ?

(Bernard, what will be LIZ new home?)

J'aimerais bien voir ce bateau, s'il passe près de Sète ou dans le coin!

(I'd love to see this boat, if it sails around Sète or in the area).

    Bonnes navigations! (Happy sailings!)

Hi Fellow Junkies! I built Liz, then named "Dudifrent" (Do Differently) when my partner and I sold our boatyard with a year to run on our hire cruiser contract. I had help with the clever bits from one of the best boatbuilders on the Norfolk Broads and a first class engineer. My engineer rebuilt the three cylinder engine so well balanced that it would tick-over at 600rpm when the spec said 2000rpm. She is a development of the Selway "Loosemoose" with wider beam, increased ballast and much changed accommodation. She is a bit heavy but anyone who has knowledge of Sharpie history will understand why! Our best performance was 10kts downwind with 38kts of wind over our heads (whoops!) off of Orford Ness. I have pics of her on the wind pulling well at 37 deg off the apparent.

I had hopes of cruising the med but my lady partner preferred to stay at home wielding tiny brushes on watercolour pics, not the 2" brush I had in mind! My partner says that Dudifrent was the love of my life. I deny this absolutely! I still have some spare battens if the new owner is interested.

Well, You just gave me false hopes! Seing Liz again mentioned in this blog, gave me the false idea that it was for sale again! Of course, it is not the case, am I right?!
