In place of Robin Blain's website .....

I strongly hope that this "swap sell buy" facility will be developed as a successor to the Sunbird brokerage website - otherwise, it will near impossible to keep track of what junk-rigged boats are on the market.

The "Swap, Sell or Buy" is an excellent way for people to advertise their boats for sale.  Not only is it free, but the forum is accessible to the general public, so anyone searching for a junk-rigged boat is likely to look at it.  Certainly, many of the boats posted here have been sold.

If you are posting a boat and are serious about selling it, I strongly recommend including the price.  A link to good photographs is also worth while.  If your boat is already with a broker, you might feel more comfortable downloading all the photos to your profile, rather than using a link to the broker.

It's also worth keeping your posting 'live' on the Recent Posts on the Fora: a lot of people only go there rather than browsing all the fora.  All you need to do is post again on your thread and the topic will return to the top.

Maybe we should make something of a feature of this topic, on the non-members' Home Page, as a service to our membership.  (Because I'm logged in at the moment, I can't check what's on it at present!).

maybe it's possible to have a group or page on facebook, too?
    i could help with that…

besides – one also finds junk–rigged–boats via apolloduck.

    Annie,

Sounds good, helping to promote listing junks for sale on the website here, and keeping that open to the public. So the person who wants to list a boat would just have to join, so they can post, right? Small price, for such wide exposure!

    Georg,

Perhaps we could use the public junk rig Facebook page (here) to link to the boats for sale forum already at the JRA. That public page is visible to people who are not signed up on Facebook. If we put the announcement and link at the head of the Facebook page – and in the closed Facebook group (found here) – everybody should have help with finding their way to the JRA list, without having to do extra work to post multiple listings. (These notices have now been included on both Facebook pages.)

If I am permitted a sideways step, Robin was also the curator of the JRA library. What has become of this resource? Is it still accessible?

    Our Chairman's report, paragraph 2:

Robin’s death has meant that the shop and library have become the Committee’s responsibility. At the moment, committee member Shemaya, is investigating a better way of running the shop on line, which will mean less work for the person responsible for it. (Sally Peake has nobly taken over the stock and been dealing with orders, in the meantime.) Edward Hooper is working through the library and committee member Barbara Schoute is looking at various options for its long-term home.

    Regards

    Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan. I'm in foreign waters with sporadic internet access, so hope my lack of attention to such matters is pardonable. I await further developments with interest.

    Regards, Asmat
