Mango Moon is for sale. She is a 13.3 metre steel multichine based on a Roberts 13.3. Launched in 1984 in England, fitted with an unstayed cat ketch rig, she made her way to Australia. My wife and I purchased her in 2011, in reasonable but less than ideal condition. Over the years, we have given her six years of our lives, lots of $, sweat, and a little blood, and a few tears as well. I have been quiet about her on this forum, but I had intended to write  her story once we had cruised her. Health has dictated otherwise, not all bad, we are going land yachting. Ford f250's go to windward quite well. Mango sits at Mooloolaba Marina in southern Queensland, waiting for a new owner to take her cruising. Briefly, she has a draft of 1.5 metres, twin asymmetrical keels, unstayed masts, top gun sails, deck and topsides painted (deck blasted) about 16 months ago in poly U 400. New sarca anchor, 97 metres of 10mm galvanized chain,  on a triple roller bow fitting at the sharp end, 2014 Finn catamaran dinghy with kapten collars and a 6 hp 4 stroke on the stern. That is so stable,  I reckon that a rap dancer could bounce all over it and not even think about tipping it. Lots more to tell, please contact me for more. Oh yes, the important bit. $89,000 au. nws1@y7mail.com

Well, we still own Mango Moon. So, what do we do in this situation? Pretty obvious, drop $10000 au off of the price. Mango needs a new home. Now $79000 au.

Well, ok, $59900 AUD. Just the paint and blasting in 2016 cost more than that, plus countless more boat units and 6 years of work. I really had hoped that a Junkie would go for Mango, and treat her with care, just enjoying what she is. I guess that if she goes outside to a bermudan person, that will bring a convert...

Hello Neville, sometimes selling a boat requires a lot of patience, especially when a boat is out of the ordinary. The right person will be out there somewhere.  I have had a couple of boats which have been on the market for over a year, and then all of a sudden it all happens. Is Mango Moon featured on any other sales sites? The more exposure you can get the better

I guess the market is really flat here, Neville, especially for junk-rigged steel boats.  Unlike NZ, we don't seem to have much of a foothold on this continent!  I listed Arion for $17,000 on all the major Australian websites and have not had a single person look at the boat in the last 5 months.  I am not quite ready to give the boat away but it may come to that eventually.

Mango Moon still looks fantastic. How I wish that our health could allow us to enjoy over 6 years of work and the truckloads of cash that we poured into her. Reduced to $55000 AUD.

    Hi all,

Just advising that I have dropped the price of Mango Moon to $49900 AUD. She is lying at D dock, Mooloolaba, southern Queensland. We spent six years and have lost count of the $ setting her up for cruising. Health has intervened for both of us. That is the way it is. We have no intentions of letting that stop us, Australia is a collection of islands and we do not have enough years left to explore it all, but we intend to give it a fair crack. Or, as the builder of Alii-Nui, our wharram cat said, "Nothing goes to windward like a 747." Sadly, we need to pass Mango on.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way...yes it is the silly season, and we are dropping Mango Moon to $45000 aud. That is as close to a gift as it gets.

Gone. Sale completed. For those who may see her between Queensland's sunshine coast and Sydney, enjoy the picture. I believe that the new owner will care for her, and is as proud of his new boat as we are. Best wishes to you all.
