    Chapter 3 is only about sailplans and how to sketch up a one-sail or two-sail rig quickly, while getting the position of the CE right. Lots about the CE and about balancing two sails so as to get the combined CE of two sails right. No jabbering about camber, this time.

    I have no book plans  -  I would need some serious help to edit it into a book. Besides, I like the digital version as I can be more generous with big diagrams than when printing it out on slices of dead old trees.

    Jonathan's spreadsheet wish list is keeping me from reading your latest, but if it's anything like the other work you've graciously put together, it'll be a hit (well maybe not for 'the Rig is flat' people ;o) I'm allowed to say that, our rig is flat panelled and likely to stay that way due to lack of time.

    Do you think you'll ever put your work together in a book? an e-book maybe? (I'm adding 10 ISBN numbers to the 2013/14 budget!)

    I have a copy to hand of your Junk Rig for Beginners for people who show real interest in the Rig or are coming sailing with us, it explains it so much better than I can.

                 Ten 7-panel sails with AR from 1.80 to 2.25

     

    Lately I have been writing on two more chapters of “The Cambered Panel Junk Rig”.

     

    Chapter 3 has been sent for proof-reading. It is about choosing a sailplan, sorting out the CE versus CLR, and also shows a way to make quick, preliminary sketches of sloops and schooners/ketches.

     

    Chapter 4 is about making detailed drawings, with all the numbers needed for lofting the sail. I am in the middle of the writing. However, I have finished ten (CAD-produced) master sails with the AR increasing from 1.80 to 2.25 in steps of 0.05. I have now collected them in a PDF file (1.39MB) which you will find under Sailplans on “my” JRA page.

    I have checked and double-checked the numbers, so hopefully there are no big errors.

    PS As for the round needed to produce camber, these numbers will come in a table in the finished chapter.

                20131017 Frøken Sørensen...Part II...

    Thanks to a bit help from Brian K, I have now corrected a few errors in my photo write-up above. I also inserted an extra page, about the shape of the camber (p.8).

    Another thing: My new computer seems to be brighter than my old one, so the links to other files, from this little pdf-format article, now seem to be active and work. Try and see ( top of p.3).

    When I started to upload JR-related write-ups to the web, first to the Yahoo JR Group and later here, it was because I soon got tired of writing in the sand and having to write long answers to the same questions, over and over. This "Another write up" topic was just meant to be a place where JRA-members as well as not-members could find links to newly-written articles. I never meant it to be my place alone, but hoped that anyone would use the place and dump links to their new articles pretty often. The links may well point at new stuff written on your blogs as well (although I hate blogs - a story will be much better told when the writer knows the end of it,,,).

    On balance I think I agree with Annie about anyone's 'new writeups' being posted here. It would also help if posters would let me know of a new one by email lest I miss their post - then I can try to add them to the 'New articles' section on the Members' Home Page.

    Comprende what you say about vagrant Kiwis and videos - tough!

    Actually, I'm not sure that the new write-ups should go in a new thread.  It takes ages to search all the topics, but knowing we have several prolific contributors, if one is looking for new info, one can just go to this thread and scroll through it.

    BTW - pity we poor rural/mobile Kiwis.  You Tube just isn't possible for us because the download is so slow and my patience wears thin when I can watch 5 seconds and then have to wait 10 for the next sequence.  Gobbles up the MB, too!  But the first 5 seconds of Broremann were cool!
