My daughter Hazel has recently purchased the Freedom 28 junk ketch 'Alanouwoly', formerly owned by Sally and Steve Peake. Last week, Hazel, Sally and I sailed her from her former home port of Cowes to her new home in Wilhelmshaven, Germany.

We shot some video on the way and I've put it together and posted it on YouTube here; LINK

The trip went smoothly; we managed to ride the tide all the way from Cowes to Dover ( I'd heard this was possible and can now confirm it is), crossed the TSS in under 2 hours and then made our way up the coast and around the outside of the Fresian Islands. We completed the voyage in 6 days, stopping once for a night in a marina on the German island of Norderney.

The boat and rig (and crew ) performed marvelously and I think it's safe to say that Hazel is a very happy new junk-rigged boat owner. Hopefully she'll join the JRA soon
