According to my good friends at Wikipedia:
    Rort
is a term used in Australia and New Zealand.[1] It is commonly related to politics, or, more generally, a financial impropriety, particularly relating to a government programme. The term was first recorded in 1919 and is a derivative of the older "rorty" a 19th century London slang word undefined meaning “fine; splendid; jolly; or boisterous”.[2] The term is also used as a verb to mean the action of defrauding, (e.g.: he rorted the system.).

I once tried that Paul - it had the most disconcerting results and was essentially unusable because it seemed to wipe out every image and not just photos!  It's not that much of an issue (she lied) but certainly You-tube and on line surveys are really out of the question.

And I think we will stay separated from Oz for the moment, if that's all right with you Gary - there are things beyond the Internet that I value!!!

There may be a web browser that still has an option for not downloading images automatically.

You can disable the automatic display  of images in Firfox by doing the below:

    Firefox Disabling Images

In Microsoft: Tools > Options > Click Content > uncheck Load Images automatically.

In Linux: Edit> Preferences> Click Content > uncheck Load Images automatically.

You can also add Exceptions websites, that you want to load images always (even though you unchecked the box).

    Hope the above helps Annie!

$15 (NZ$19.60)/month gives you 1.5GB with Voda in Australia.
Maybe the Kiwis should consider statehood with Oz to get our prices... ;-)
    (ducks for cover).

Oi Jeff, here's from my dictionary:

    rort |rôrt|

    noun Austral., informal

1 [often with adj. ] a fraudulent or dishonest act or practice : a tax rort.

No, no, no, Maxime - this is the Free Market Economy working in a Competitive Environment :-)

For which read rorting the consumer in a small country with a limited market.

I comprehend "rorting" by context, but it's a new word to me. Would you catch me up on it please?

Yes Jeff, if there are pics in any posting more bandwidth will be used. Unfortunately there does not seem to be anyway to turn this off at a global or user level at this point in time. Possibly in the next upgrade we might get it but don't hold your breath.

Doesn't that mean that a forum post with pics eats that much of your limited bandwidth without you even knowing it's about to? Doesn't seem right.

David, what is that box on deck behind the main? Is it a new fancy style of dorade vent?

Yes, it's a dorade. I had a conventional one with plastic cowls, but it was a pain when I wanted to put the dinghy on deck, for an offshore passage. It's just made of scraps of 9mm ply. There is a transverse piece hanging down from the top, and then another coming up from the deck behind it, so the air has to go down and back up again, before going down through the slot at the back of the vent.
