Thanks for all the well wishes! I just returned. We, sadly had to abort the mission.

We ran into a few issues about 500 miles north of Hawaii : engine overheating and some type of electrical issue that melted the Iridium Go ... leaving us without communication or weather files.

We all decided to head to the closest port which was on Kauai.

The owner decided to wait to try again next spring.

It was a FANTASTIC trip regardless, and although I didn't get to complete the crossing , the trip left me yearning for more ASAP.

I also had some very good beginner's luck  with a handline , and we feasted on this Mahi Mahi for a few days, as well as got to swim in the world's largest and deepest Blue bathtub.

    Hello everyone,

I'll be flying to Honolulu on 9/12 to help deliver a Fairweather Mariner 39 back to Ventura , Ca.

To say I'm excited is an extreme understatement!

This will be my first ocean crossing. Alas , not on a junk rigged boat , but , this is exactly the experience I've been wanting.... an ocean crossing on someone else's boat , before I venture out on my own.

I'll also be racking up lots of sea days for my eventual captan's license.

Here is a Predict Wind tracking link , if anyone would like to follow along:

    I'll bet you are excited!

    What a great opportunity.

    I, for one, am envious.

I hope it all goes well.
