It gives me great pleasure to finally introduce myself and Lapwing to the forum! Lapwing is a 19ft Newbridge Navigator JR, purchased by myself and my cousin Ben back in May. It has taken a couple of months of tinkering, planning and negotiating moorings with the harbour authorities (the later proving to be particularly problematic) but this evening we were finally able to get out for our maiden sail.
This is the first experience either of us has had sailing a junk rig and we have some work to do get her sailing properly. In particular our sheeting arrangement needs a major redesign (I shall be consulting my copy of PJR on this matter over the coming days), but overall we were pleased with how she handled in a fairly strong breeze.
A few photos attached, but please don’t judge our rig just yet! We know it needs some work!
